Someone Else’s Love Story – She Reads September Pick

I am back in the groove with the amazing She Reads Book Club, been a little out of synch. This book by Joshilyn Jackson is the perfect reason why I am so thankful to the club for their book eye. This is my second Jackson novel and the first had me a little off kilter but now with my second I know more of what to expect. Part of my uncertainty came from this new genre of Southern Literature writers as well as her unique stories.

SOMEONE-ELSES-LOVE-STORY

In SOMEONE ELSE’S LOVE STORY you share in the next chapter of Shandi Pierce and her son as they try to figure out where and how they fit in.  If you are a Jackson fan you know this journey is not going to normal by any stretch.  Shandi and Natty and other characters that Jackson introduces along the way are quirky and memorable.

William saves Shandi and Natty and becomes a hero but at what cost. He has some issues himself with love, loss and behaviorial traits and it is uncertain what is right for him.  Paula who is William’s best friend and protector is always popping in and out.  And Bridget a character we get to know through others eyes and narration.  And there is Walcott the faithful friend that fights for his place.  This list would not be complete without mention of Stevie and Clayton the two villains of the story but the fabric of each finds a way to hold together and even brighten its path.

For me it is her writing that keeps me coming back and thus understanding why Jackson has so many followers, and I would now consider myself one of them. Head on over to She Reads and you can see what others have to say about SOMEONE ELSE’S LOVE STORY: http://www.shereads.org/2013/11/november-book-club-selection-4/.

P.S. If you are a fan or want to get started on Shandi’s story why not pick up the enovella that sets the stage for SOMEONE ELSE’S LOVE STORY? which does not arrive till November 19th.  MY OWN MIRACULOUS  is available.
