Audiobook Week is on

Are you new to audiobooks in the last year?

If you have suffered through this story before you have my permission to fast forward.  I discovered audiobooks when I was desparately seeking something to make being on the road for a job more tolerable.  I am not the greatest car traveler to begin with but you pop in an audiobook and I am like a dog and cannot wait to get in the car and go for a ride. 

Have you been listening to them forever but discovered something new this year?

Definitely not new to them this year but I do pay more attention than ever to the narrator and the production value.  I owe that that change in listening to the twitter universe. 

Favorite titles?

So this is my least faovite question to ponder. Usually the one I am listening to is my favorite and different situations or people bring to life an audiobook and for that moment that is a favorite. 

So I am going to list some favorites of the moment now that consist of listens from the last twelve months:

As part of the Armchair Audies I listened to my first book by Mary Kay Andrews and I ws glad to discover her and cannot wait to listen to next up SPRING FLING.  

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this listen.  First I was surprised to be caught up in a Stephen King novel but I was.  The story captivated me and I was glad I had a chance to listen to this story. Had I not listened to the audiobbok I do not think I could have read the traditional book.

As far as my inner geek this is the audiobook winner on that front.  I have listened to this a total of three times and now I am thinking I must go back for another helping.  The author’s narration is so elequent with his english accent it is a pleasure to listen to those things I should have taken in while in science courses over the years.  For young or old the whole audiobook is a teaching moment.

The last two enteries are a new genre for me and that is bio/memoir. I listened to three that were tops for me:

The delightful Carrie Fisher’s life part 2 as read by Carrie Fisher.  Her timing is perfect and lets face it she knows the material.  While it was so sad at times I thought I could not go on the joy that you feel is well worth it. 

It was a fitting way to celebrate the years of All My Children with none other than the star of the show Susan Lucci.  If you are a fan of Lucci or the show, may it rest in peace,  this is a do not miss listen.

Last up in this category is Andy Cohen’s hilarious MOST TALKATIVE.  From his early years to being a top programming guy at BravoTV this guy can tell a story.  Just so happens that his own stories are much more interesting that most of us

New times/places to listen?

Until recently I only listened to them in the car however this year they came inside the house.  I have them playing in the washroom when I am getting ready sometimes.  Additionally, I am working at a summer project where listening to them during the day is acceptable.  I think I am in heaven everyday I go in.
