Proud to be part of the Armchair BEA12, I love those who organize this event cause it is not a small undertaking. I want to be sure to say thank you today and everyday that follows. Without further ado here are my answers to five questions:
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
Currently reading Robert Goolrick’s HEADING OUT TO WONDERFUL from Algonquin Books. I missed THE RELIABLE WIFE and now I know I will go back and read that novel as well. I have to say it is not my favorite subject matter, time period or location but that does not diminish my finding it so hard to put down. I think the writing speaks for itself and I bow to that gift Mr. Goolrick. HEADING TO WONDERFUL is out June 12th.
I will add that for me the most anticipated book of the year is the 2nd installment in the trilogy by Deb Harkness, SHADOW OF NIGHT, out in July. A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES was either my 1st or 2nd favorite read of last year so I can hardly contain my interest as the days count down.
Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
I would say THE NIGHT CIRCUS post from last year cause that book came so out of the blue for me and I want everyone to read it. Actually kind of BEA symbolic as I saw tweets and posts about this book and after poking around I knew I needed to get my paws on an ARC. I have tried to convince Erin Morgenstern to write more but I think she might have pursued an injunction. Paperback edition is out July 3rd in case you could not commit to the hardbound version.
What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
While some may cry foul that this is tv inspired “not so” I would reply. I would like to visit the Downton Abbey location, Highclere Castle. I believe this is fair territory as I have read many of the accompanying books about the castle since the series has taken our household by storm.
What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
So I like that I approach my posts as features vs. reviews. You never know what you are going to find when you stop by.
If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
Hands down Erin Morgenstern because then she would have to listen to me prattle on with my praise and maybe just maybe she would see my point that there is more to say. Actually I would just like to dine with the woman who wrote this magnificent magical tale.

Just discovered your blog (found at Twitter). I forgot that I had been interested in reading THE NIGHT CIRCUS, thanks for the reminder. Also, as it happens, I JUST got back from England last week where, among other things, I visited Highclere Castle!! It was fabulous. The grounds are beautiful (different than in Downton Abbey) and farther out in the country than the show makes it seem. There’s also a wonderful Egyptian exhibition in the basement. The 5th earl of Pembroke was with Howard Carter when they opened King Tut’s tomb. Downton Abbey is my drug!
I hope you read THE NIGHT CIRCUS and find something special in it. Loved hearing about your journey to Highclere Castle, completely jealous. I hope one day I will have the chance to visit. I agree with you about Downton Abbey being a drug of choice.

Hooray for Downton Abbey! I’d love to visit Highclere Castle, too. I’m going through serious Downton withdrawals at the moment, and I have a book on hold at the library about some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. I didn’t even know the title of the 2nd Deb Harkness book, let alone that it’s coming out next month! That’s really exciting. I had sort of mixed feelings about A Discovery a Witches, but despite that, I’m eager to read the next book and see what happens. Great to meet you!

With the Queen’s Jubilee there have been a couple of features on it and I so want to go.
I really liked The Night Circus a lot. I don’t re-read books all that often because there are so many new books I want to read, but that’s one that I’d consider doing a re-read of.

I feel just the same about THE NIGHT CIRCUS. I think I will reread before the film which will give me distance and yet be interesting to have it fresh.
I loved The Night Circus too – I read it last year prior to book blogging, but just discussed it this week. And I love the idea of thinking of your blog as features vs. reviews. Although I participate in memes, I structure them as features, so that’s how I’m going to start thinking of them 🙂
I am so glad you had the opportunity to visit the circus I am so looking forward to the movie. From very early on felt it was so visual that it had to become a movie.
I have A Discovery of Witches on my shelf and have been kind of waiting to read it because I knew more volumes are to come. I don’t know how much longer I can put it of. And I so so so badly want to read The Night Circus. People keep telling me wonderful things about it!
I say read em both. I have mixed thoughts on ADOW. Did not realize it was a trilogy when I started and it is a long time in between. But it is oh so good, long but good.
Sounds great! I’ll definitely get the second volume and then probably read them back to back.
They are a commitment with their length but I know part I was well worth it.

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog to say hello! I have so many new ideas for books to read…I do actually read all types of books but have focused on Christian and Amish books as of lately. I have read Stephen King and lots of YA fantasy: love Madeline L’Engle’s books. Jodi Picoult is also one of my favs as her books always have a surprise ending!!

I loved The Night Circus too. I recommend it to anyone. It was very magical. I wish there was a real nighttime circus. I’ve had authors say they won’t continue with characters and then 5 years later there’s a whole new book about them. So there’s always hope. 🙂

I wish I could compel you to read THE NIGHT CIRCUS but then what if you do like it? Impossible. Just kidding cuz there are enough books to go around for every taste.
Maybe you could celebrate the paperback release in July with a read.
My book club read A Reliable Wife last year and it caused quite a stir, one of the members was so offended by it she hasn’t been to a meeting since.
I might be the only one on the planet who hasn’t seen Downton Abbey.
Wow you gave me so much to think about. I would say HEADING TO WONDERFUL could have that same response given the right mix of reader.
Fat finger mistake replying, I don’t know that Downton Abbey is for everyone. But this is so right up my alley and then fold in excellent writing, magnificent background and brilliant casting and it is one of the best productions I have seen. We say “All Downton Abbey all the time” at this end.
